Nestled in the hills to the east of Funchal, Casa Velha do Palheiro is situated just 7 km from the centre of Funchal and 15km from the airport. The hotel is bordered by the renowned Palheiro Gardens and the championship Palheiro Golf Course.

Casa Velha do Palheiro was built in the early 19th Century as a hunting lodge for the Count of Carvalhal and was bought in 1885 by John Burden Blandy. The hotel is now a part of Palheiro Nature Estate. Since its acquisition by the Blandy family in 1885, successive generations have managed the transition from traditional farming to leisure-based activities.
This strong tradition of hospitality and quality continues in all areas today, from golf and the hotel to the gardens and flower business.
